CS MANILA: Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and the devotional renewal of religious vows

MANILA, December 8, 2023.

The Scalabrinian religious communities of the Manila area gathered together at the Scalabrini Theology House at 13th Street, Damayang Lagi, New Manila, Quezon City to celebrate the annual devotional renewal of vows. The Mass started at 6:00 PM and was presided by Fr. Huy, CS while the homilist was Fr. Bao, CS. Rev. Dexter, CS served as deacon while the other priests confreres in the area concelebrated. The Mass was followed by dinner and a simple program. The PY and Philosophy seminarians also attended the celebrations.

December 8 was chosen for the annual devotional renewal of vows of the Scalabrinian Missionaries in order to honor the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary who was given by the Founder, St. John Baptist Scalabrini as the patroness of the congregation on December 8, 1894 as well the first perpetually professed members of the congregation received by the Founder, also on the same date.

The Immaculate Conception is also significant in the Philippines, not just as a solemnity in the Church but also of civic importance because She is the principal patroness of the country making December 8 a government-sanctioned national public non-working holiday.
